Imaging satellite service agency provides satellite imaging service for a large number of users. Frequently, no communication and contact occur among different users when they put forward observation demand; therefore, different users may have the same or similar demand for satellite observation in the same area. When the above situation occurs, imaging satellite not only has completed one of the missions of observation demand, but also is able to complete or partially complete some other observation demands, which is called redundancy relationship among these observation demands. With the increase in the number of users and demands, the probability and number of redundant relationships among the demands will present a rising trend. Without treatment in demands with existing redundant relationships, repeated observations will occur in imaging satellite in some areas, resulting in a waste of satellite resources. Fusion technology research for the demands of imaging satellite aims to eliminate redundancy between demands, reduce demand size, and thereby reducing the difficulty of satellite planning and improving the utilization rate of satellite and the overall satisfaction degree of users, through fusing the same or similar demands in the growing satellite observation demands.In terms of model research: firstly, this study established a descriptive model for observation demands and a competency model for satellite observation. By analyzing the common characteristics and essential factors of the demands of imaging satellite, the description specification of demands was obtained, and demands were divided into regional target observation demands and point target observation demands. The competency model for satellite observation was used to abstract the common characteristics and competencies of imaging satellite through the analysis of the functional structure and resources of satellite, to establish a feasible expression pattern for any imaging satellite. Then, the descriptive model for capability of satellite to ground observation was established.Fusion research method for regional target observation demands: By investigating the redundancy problem among regional target observation demands, the concept of redundancy strength was introduced. In this study, the redundancy strength among regional target observation demands was divided into: of spatial redundancy strength and temporal redundancy strength. Redundancy strength of matrix is established. Based on the hierarchical fusion analysis of matrix, the redundancy strength of matrix was calculated. The fusion of demands was conducted according to the redundancy strength. Then, the fusion method of regional target demands was verified through experimental simulation, and the experimental simulation results demonstrated that the fusion method of regional target demands could effectively reduce demand size and save the resources of satellite.Fusion research method for point target observation demands: Through the analysis of observation satellite mission planning, found that most of the observation satellite observe a point target every time. Under the condition that point targets are intensive, observation satellite only can complete a few point target observation demands because window of time have conflict or conversion of time is not enough among point target observation demands. In order to solve this problem, this paper put forward a synthetic observation method?According to analyze function of side swing and angle of view,adjust the observation angle of remote sensor and make multiple point targets within the scope of observation of imaging satellite at the same time. The conditional constraint model of point target fusion was constructed, and the Problem was solved by genetic algorithm. The utilization rate of satellite resources and the completion rate of overall users were significantly improved through the fusion of point target observation demands.Under the background that the observation capability of imaging satellite could not meet demands, the quantitative scale of demands could be obviously decreased through the analysis of earth observation demands and fusion research, which reduced the difficulty in the mission planning of imaging satellite, improved the resource utilization rate of imaging satellite, and completed more earth observation demands.
