With the changes of the consumption pattern, the social development gradually embarks on the conversions road from the agricultural economy to the industrial economy and then to the experiential economy. The coming time of the experiential economy poses a deep influence on the interior designs, especially in the designing concept transformation. The experiential designing concept believes that: the changing ways of people's living and producing, people's values, the morality, the aesthetic standard and the consumption view will lead to a pursuing of spiritual fulfilment and metamorphosis rather than a simply material enjoyment when people spend their money. Such self-satisfaction both in physical and mental areas of the space consumers is a relative direct mental feeling provided by the space environment. When it comes to the food consumption, the experiential design holds such assumption: when people choose to go to the the restaurant, they are looking for the experiences of the dinning environment, the services, the affective interaction and the satisfaction from such spiritual experiences not merely an ordinary meal. Therefore, the dining space design will show the consumers a fully acquisition of catering services, and in order to provide consumers an overall spiritual experience, the experiential design should present this kind of acquisition in a comprehensive way.The small dinning space dose not serve a large group of customers, so it should keep its own orientation and characteristic. The small dinning space is the best place for customers to experience the distinctive dinning culture, so how to make an experiential design in the small restaurant with the flavor of regional features is an important issue to enhance the dinning experiences and stimulate the interaction between the dinning space and the customers.In accordance with the existing small size dinning space and its development situation in Hohhot, this thesis raises the proposals of theexperiential design of the small size dinning space in Hohhot by analyzing the existing cases with the theories of experiential design which aim to solve the problems in dinning space design at present. The thesis also makes some suggestions on the factors we should focus on in designing the small dinning space with the unique cultural characteristics in Hohhot and illustrates the importance of the application of the experiential design in the small size dinning space.
