Research On Urbanwaterfront Landscape Architecture Design

Water has given birth to human civilization.Both the birth and growth of lives have originated from culturing of water since the ancient times,so water is known as blood vessel of the earth.In addition,water can incorporate itself into any environment because it is clear,translucent,gentle and sparkling,also considered as an important element of landscape.Traditional landscape design techniques such as“integration of waters with mountains” and “facing water with hills behind” have emerged since the ancient China for the purpose of creating elegant atmosphere for appreciating sceneries,in order to make people happy.Up till now,people are still desirous of enjoying themselves in waterscapes among modern urban landscapes.As the largest places with waterscapes in cities,urban waterfronts may conveniently and effectively accommodate people's wishes for being close to water.Over the past few years,development of scenic waterfronts has aroused greater and greater concern in China.Many areas with advantages in waters have vigorously developed waterfront landscapes in succession.After the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,Chairman Xi has put forward views about green development several times,“in order that urban residents could see mountains and water”.According to general development trends of China and the cities,existing problems with landscapes of urban waterfronts such as serious water pollution,ecological imbalance of waterfront landscapes and lack of regional and urban historical connotations are summarized in this paper.Aiming at waterfront landscape architecture,this paper analyzes value,significance and influence of the architecture,to confirm its core position and important roles in waterfront landscapes.To be exact,such landscape architecture may improve waterfront environment,create waterfront space and strength visual effects of waterscapes.Subsequently,classification of waterfront landscape architecture,its relationships with waterfront environment andproblems are studied and analyzed according to urban waterfront landscape environment.Besides,design principles of waterfront landscape architecture are summarized,and design methods are summed up according to environmental traits of waterfronts.The design methods mainly cover four aspects,including coordinating environment,reflecting regional cultures,incorporating humanistic thoughts and protecting ecological environment.At last,excellent cases home and abroad,including Qingdao Grand Theater and Musée des Confluences,are analyzed and summarized from the perspective of their function setting,style design and material selection,to confirm if the theories summed up above are scientific,reasonable and complete or not.At the last part of this paper,waterfront landscape architecture in the middle section of West Jiangbin Road in Jilin of Jilin Province pursuant to the design principles and methods proposed in this paper,in hope that redesigned waterfront landscape architecture can improve ecological environment of Jilin,increase unique charm of waterfronts and enliven the waterfront landscape space of this area,in order to create better space for citizens' rest and playing.In the mean time,references may be provided for other cities to design waterfront landscape architecture.
