It is well known that the Tianjin Port is the largest comprehensive port in the north of China and it takes an important role in the economy trade.However, during the production process of soda produced a large amount of soda residue has affected the planning and development of Tianjin Port, which restricts the further development of the port area. Many scholars were taking part in the reach of soda residue. Studies have shown that the soda residue can be used as a special soft soil to meet the engineering requirements of the soil and can reduce environmental pollution. But because of the lack of basic research and experimental data, when use the soda residue foundation as a yard, the settlement are most concerned.This paper relies on a yard project in Tianjin Port, through the detailed engineering geological survey report, choose the preloading as the method to deal with the soda residue foundation and make the reasonable design, then layout the effective field monitoring program to obtain a large amount of measured data. According to the data to find out the feature of the soda residue foundation settlement and the soda residue engineering properties. Seeking to analyze and predict the caustic sludge settling foundation, use the FLAC 3D software to simulate the situation. Use reasonable simplification methods and preferences to set up the model. And the results will be compared with the measured data, we can conclude that FLAC 3D software can be used in simulation analysis and Alkali foundation settlement prediction. Based on the measured data, we use curve fitting, gray theory and theoretical calculation method to predict the settlement. And the curve fitting include hyperbolic curve fitting, exponential curve and Hoshino France, the study shows that use the hyperbolic method to predict the final settlement of foundation settlement most accurate. When using gray theory GM(1,1) model to predict the results and make the result compared with the hyperbolic method, and the study shows that it can predict the short-term settlement precisely and also can be used in less data situation. The result shows that the gray theory method can be applied to actual engineering. Use the theoretical formula to calculate the final settlement, the results is generally less than the real data need to take an empirical coefficient, the coefficient of this project value of 1.09-1.31.This article analyze the different ways in Alkali applicable conditions of foundation settlement, enriches the actual engineering calculation method Alkali foundation settlement. And it can guide the similar engineering.
