Experimental Study Of Air Purifier Removal Effect On Airliner Cabin Particulate Pollutants

As a high-speed and convent way to travel, airplane has become an essential transportation mode both at home and abroad. China air transport market is developing rapidly and will be the top in 2030. When aircrafts stay at the airport before climbing up, aircrafts' auxiliary power unit(APU) or ground air-conditioning cart(GAC), which have no filtering device, will send the outside atmosphere air directly into the cabin interior. However, China atmospheric environment pollution is very serious. Particle concentrations of the cabin interior will be very high, and passengers and crew's health will be harmed. Therefore, how to remove the high concentrations of particles inside the cabin with effective methods and provide a healthy and comfortable cabin environment are very important.There are many methods to remove particulate matter in the architectural space. The most popular method is using an air cleaner. Building space and cabin interior space have a lot in common, but the cabin interior space is more complex and with greater density. According to the successfully use in the building space, we decided to introduce aircraft cabin air purifier. According to the performance test methods of air purifier in GB/T18801-2008, we conducted test on five main air purifiers existing in the market. Then we selected the best of five air purifiers to research its performance in the cabin. We also put forward the static and dynamic experiment method to study the effect of air purifier in the cabin. This study gave us the effect of the air purifier in the cabin. Compared to the purifying effect in buildings, we can find out how different structure forms affect the purification performance. In addition, through the dynamic experiment can we show people the effect of air purifier purification and the distance it can purifying.This paper studies the purifying effect of air cleaner in the aircraft cabin when airplane staying in the airport. It gives the specific purifying effect of air purifier and practical suggestions on application. This research fills the gaps in the air purifier in aviation applications, and provides the theoretical support and reference for future research.
