The power grid utilization is an important manifestation of the operating efficiency of the power grid. Improving the power gird utilization is helpful to exert the existing equipment’s potential capacity, improve the development quality of power grid and the economic benefits of the enterprise. The paper summarizes the existing domestic and foreign power grid basic calculation index and the related research state, then analyzes the main influencing factors on the power grid utilization, and according to the above researches and discusses the calculation and evaluation method of the power grid utilization, the main work is as follows:1.By referring to the existing related references at home and abroad, the paper analyzes the related calculation index of power grid utilization and research method, which clearly points out the using scope of the various indicators. This part also summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the existing related utilization evaluation method and model.2.The second part analyzed and summarized the main influencing factors of the power grid utilization rate in China, by analyzing the own characteristic of the power grid and the external environment which has some requirement on the operating of power grid. The main influencing factors include the risk factors, the power grid structural factors, the development stage of power grid,the feature of the load,the form of the generation, the technical progress, the policy effect and the equipment operation and maintenance level etc.3.According to the related power grid utilization influencing factors, the paper explains power grid utilization calculation method, introducing four influencing factor coefficient, which are risk factor coefficient, grid structure coefficient, load characteristics coefficient and power grid development margin coefficient. This part also puts forward the calculation method of the actual average utilization rate and its approximate limit.4.Combined with the static security analysis,the paper puts forward a new method to evaluate the power grid utilization. The method compares the power grid utilization and the power plow current capacity margin index under different load levels, which indicates that the optimal power flow can realize a reasonable unification of economic, power utilization and the risk level.
