From the ages of several large earthquakes of about the earthquake caused casualties and property losses, on the basis of introduced from ancient times to the present domestic and foreign research scholars after continuous efforts to make seismic theory to obtain continuous development, is divided into four stages. Focuses on the fourth stage of static elastic plastic stage theory and the analysis method of static elastic plastic pushover analysis method, describes the basic principle, basic assumptions, implementation steps,advantages and disadvantages as well as the main method and the lateral load pattern and so on. Secondly, the dynamic time history analysis method is introduced, and then the two methods are compared with the static analysis and dynamic elastic-plastic analysis. Hope to quickly find the weak link of the structure, so that the damage of the structure in the earthquake effect in the expected range.Pushover analysis and dynamic time history analysis of a six story reinforced concrete frame structure and a eight story reinforced concrete frame structure are carried out by using SAP2000 software. Pushover analysis is mainly in the case of nonlinear structural layer displacement angle and the development of plastic hinge analysis and discussion. In order to compare with the results of Pushover analysis, the elastic-plastic dynamic time history analysis of three different seismic waves is carried out, and the calculation results are discussed.The results of inelastic pushover analysis and the elastic-plastic dynamic time history analysis of plastic hinge, are in line with the requirements of "strong column and weak beam" and seismic fortification. However, with respect to the dynamic time history analysis, the elastic-plastic Pushover analysis can be more detailed to understand the change and development of the structure plastic hinge, and find the weak position in the design. Static elastic-plastic pushover analysis did not consider the influence of higher modes. So analysis of displacement and internal force of the structure of the high-rise has certain error. So the static elastic-plastic Pushover analysis method has good applicability for the structure with low floor, which can be used to analyze and evaluate the seismic performance of the structure. The method is simple, feasible and easy to implement, and has a certain practical application prospect. The Pushover analysis method is easy to implement.
