To protect the safety of Titan Chuffing reservoir downstream, improve the regional ecological environment, the Up-Titan Chuffing reservoir is to be built on. In order to design a structural safe, economical, resource conservational Up-Titan Chuffing arch dam, paper chooses Up-Titan Chuffing arch dam for study and has worked on two aspects:(1) arch dam design. The paper calculated the dam crest thickness, the base thickness and the basic dominating parameters of elevation and calculated the dam stress under various conditions according to the norms recommended arch cantilever method. Finally, the stability analysis of gravity buttress and abutment.(2) ANSYS simulation of this project. A more detailed description of the modeling process and the command stream were presented in the paper which determined the temperature raised and drop parameters by analogy and then applied water pressure, Jan pressure and other parameters on the dam and at last calculated stress and displacement under four kinds of temperature- stress coupling conditions. Finally, the results of arch cantilever method and finite element were compared.I do hope that the simulation results are valuable for the chosen of some design data and have some guidance for the temperature control, progress control of the construction process. There are some conclusions after design, calculation and simulation:(1) Arch structure is proved to be reliable and safe through stress calculation and stability calculation.(2) The stress and displacement of ANSYS simulation are in line with the requirement of "arch design specifications". By comparing with the result of arch cantilever method, it shows that there are some differences in the stress and displacement results, but the differences are small and the laws of each condition are basically the same. However, the differences lie in that the results of the finite element method has the stress concentration phenomenon which can be trimmed through the equivalent stress method.Paper carried on structural calculation utilizes the arch cantilever method and finite element method. Arch cantilever method make use of material mechanics method and structural mechanics method for calculation, while another mainly make use of elastic mechanics, computer calculating and display the results intuitionally.
