Electricity has become the important energy sources in today's social development needs, and along with the widespread use of various kinds of power electronic equipment, lead to result in a large number of higher harmonic power supply system, caused serious pollution to the power grid. Therefore, the harmonic governance has become an important subject in the power grid security. Passive filter with low operation cost, simple structure, high reliability, low equipment investment, in terms of power grid harmonic control and reactive power compensation played an indispensable role.As the existing passive filters exist on the system impedance and frequency of defects and poor adaptability to change, we present a new type of passive filter is different from the past, designed a prototype of this new type of passive filter, and which were studied experimentally.Firstly, presentations and analyzes the existing passive filters, detailing the structure and characteristics of several widely use passive filters. For new passive filter design of the proposed structures, several assumptions to Kirchhoff's laws and other circuits based on the principle, by deriving theoretical formula, verify their hypothesis is established. Then apply Matlab, VB and other simulation software as a platform for new passive filter design and calculation of the simulation model parameters and simulation calculation procedure codes and to analyze the simulation results.According to the above study, this new type of passive filter prototyping, the prototype into the design and operation environment for data acquisition, after several data acquisition and data analysis, experimental results and their analysis. The simulation and experimental results show that the new passive filter design provides good filtering effect. Moreover proposed future research directions, it is a useful reference in the design process for the future passive filter industry provides.
