The way of inheriting Chinese traditional architectural culture in a modernized way has always been the most widely discussed problem during architectural creation and research of modern Chinese architects.Hui-style architecture is a style of folk house with oriental connotation and special characteristics.The traditional craft and unique style retained make Hui-style architecture one of the three major regional cultures of China.Starting from the research of residential buildings in Huizhou,this paper explores and discusses the spiritual connotation of traditional Hui-style architecture,and tries to provide some new methods and ideas for the creation of modern Hui-style architecture.Firstly,based on the research on the historical inheritance of Hui-style architecture,this paper analyzes the semantic features of architectural elements of Hui-style architecture,including architectural structure,space,colors and decorative elements.Then,this paper analyzes successful cases,summarizes its creation techniques,and restructures and simplifies the architectural elements of traditional Hui-style architecture to study its application in modern architecture.Finally,this paper adopts a case study of “Xidi Hongcun Culture and Art Center” in Yi County of Anhui,works out the specific design methods,and demonstrates the design methods shall be used by traditional Hui-style architecture in order to realize the spiritual inheritance and modernization of Hui-style architecture.The architectural design of modern Hui-style architecture needs to be bold in innovation and drawing lessons,fully respect the humanistic environment and geographical environment in which the building is intended to be constructed,and inherit the spiritual and cultural connotation of Hui-style architecture so as to make it fill with the vitality of the time.
