Experimental Research On Q235 Equal Angle Steel Struts Connected With Single Side And Finite Element Analysis

Abstract/Summary:
The paper studies on Q235 steel equal angles,which are carried on two eccentric compression tests, and steel specimens was analyzed with the finite element analysis software ANSYS.Finally,finite element results are compared with test results, verify the correctness of the finite element model and the parameter analysis.In order to study the overall stability of Q235 hot rolled equilateral angle eccentric compression specimens, which were 12 Q235 equal angles eccentrically compress test, the test results are analyzed. The test showed that the larger slenderness ratio at both ends of the eccentric compression equilateral angle steel, which occurs around the parallel axis parallel to the bending deformation of the connected leg when it is instability. Torsion of the end plate is obvious, and the maximum deformation occurred in the middle position of the bar. The test results and all the standard theoretical values are compared, and found that "03" the result of calculation of the steel gauge is too conservative, which will lead to the waste of materials and suggestions to adjust the formula; and the "American" guidelines for such specimens were designed, the actual project will unsafe.Finally, using the finite element software ANSYS to simulate the steel specimen analysis,finite element results were compared with the experimental results, and found good agreement of them, which verifies the correctness of the finite element model and parameter analysis. The results showed that the slenderness ratio, yield strength and end restraint equivalence edge angle, which is large impact to the overall stability of the steel specimens,however the influence of Poisson’s ratio can be disregarded. Slenderness ratio is large, the method of increased steel yield strength to improve the bearing capacity,which is not scientific. When slenderness ratio is unchanged, increase the angle steel test piece thickness of leg or limb width, which can enhance the bearing capacity; however, slenderness ratio islarge,the method of increased limb width or thickness of leg to improve the angle steel specimens bearing force, which is not reasonable of using,largen of the bearing capability is not very obvious.
