The research on mechanical product is critical, because it often leads to huge economic losses and even casualties when machinery equipment (especially for large equipment, such as aircraft, offshore platforms, cranes, etc.) fail. Reliability analysis is a sort of science methodology based on probability statistics. Reliability of the mechanical structure can be divided into the inherent reliability and operational reliability, respectively manipulate in product design phase and use phase. The application of reliability analysis in mechanical structure studies emerged in the late 80's at home, and the main methods of reliability analysis include approximation methods, numerical simulation and response surface method based on surrogate. This paper focuses on reliability analysis of weld of bridge crane based on Isight reliability analysis methods to provide references for improving the inherent reliability of crane.The crane is one sort of the large typical mechanical equipment, and its work condition is so special (such as nuclear), the weight of crane is heavy, the operation at height as to the reliability of its condition is very crucial. Metal structure is the body of the crane, and the carrying frame of other equipment, so the reliability of metal structure plays an essential role on crane reliability.Most of the academics do research on crane focusing on reliability analysis of the remaining life of metal structure, within the scope of studying on operational reliability. As for structure reliability design of welding structure, the research is not so much.Therefore, this paper supported by Collaborative Innovation Center of Major Machine Manufacturing in Liaoning, based on major collaborative innovation task subproject studies metal structure reliability of plant circular bridge crane, and analyzes the weld reliability of bridge crane manipulating Isight reliability methods. In order to provide new ideas and references for the increments of inherent reliability of bridge crane, making use of Isight reliability analysis checks the traditional design, and from the perspective of reliability margin calculates minimum height of weld. The main work of the paper includes four parts.(1) This paper reviews the research status of reliability of metal structure, and clarifies the difference application between inherent reliability and operational reliability for metal structure of crane.(2) Paying attention to the failure forms of metal structure and its reason, this paper still summarizes the principle of reliability analysis of remaining life of metal structures and the principle of structural reliability design method.(3) Studying on the reliability calculation and the available range of each method, this paper analyzes the reliability analysis of welding seam by manipulating the Isight and calculates the reliability of Shear Stress, Bending Stress and Deflection. The result shows that the design cannot guarantee a high reliability.(4) Taking the nuclear ring hanging for background, this paper analyzes the reliability of weld seams of metal structure of crane located in the connection between the cover board of main beam and web of main beam, between the cover board of main beam and web of end carriage, and between the cover board of main beam and web of end beam; and provides the minimum height of weld seam in three different coefficient of variations on condition of high reliability.
