Parallel compensation capacitor is one of electrical components used widely in electric power syste. At present, the intelligent diagnosis technology of conventional capacitor is insufficient. The parallel compensation capacitor, when it happen a fault of some of the silks melting, can only be resected rely on protection device; meanwhile, the capacitor has been relatively serious troubles. For finding out the fault capacitors, each of the electric capacity needs to be tested, while consume large amounts of manpower and time.In order to make up the deficiency of the traditional capacitor diagnostic technology, in this paper, the design of a parallel compensation capacitor electric capacity intelligent monitoring system is presented, which make the dynamic monitoring of electric capacity be realization. The basic design principle of this system is corresponding relations between the amount of fault capacitor electric current and fault capacitor capacitance change; Do the simulation analysis for different capacitors failure model; Establish capacitor failure discriminant matrix accurately reflect the state of the group within the capacitor run and position the failure of a capacitor effectively;Hardware system is composed of current signal collecting system, data collection and transmission system and power unit system, in which, the current signal acquisition and power unit are designed integrated; Transmission signals to the Industrial Computer by the zigbee network, via VPN virtual network, the signal is transmitted to the main control room monitor computer; Software system is monitoring system of visualization based on the Delphi, the database is based on SQL Server, for storing the powerful real-time monitoring data.We do experiments in a capacitor factory,Installation and testin a substation,confirmed that the system has a strong field operation stability and accuracy.Parallel compensation capacitor intelligent monitoring system will great improve the fault diagnosis technology of capacitors. It will have the important meaning for timely discovering capacitor defects and maintenance of power system stability.
