Design Of Smart Home Control System

With the rapid development of economic, the quality of life keeps improving, and the demand of having a more comfortable and intelligent living condition is becomes stronger and stronger. Smart home can bring us a more comfortable, safe and convenient living condition, which make it to be the trend of home environment. However, there are some problems on smart home products, such as the expensive price and the system complexity. To conquer these disadvantages, this paper presents a cost-effective solution for smart home control system.Intelligent gateway is the core of smart home control network. Data exchange between intelligent gateway and the smart applications must have a unified protocol specifications, so as to ensure reliable and efficient operation. Based on the 433 MHz and Wi Fi wireless communication technology, this paper designed smart home MAC layer protocols and network layer protocols. In order to design the MAC layer protocol, after the comparison of the existing channel access technologies and the error control technologies, the CSMA/CA technology is chosen as channel access strategy and the ARQ is sellected as error control technology. At the same time, a detailed structure of the various MAC layer frames is given. In the network layer protocol is design by the next steps: firstly, after considering the special environment of residential buildings and the coverage of the wireless communication module the tree topology is selected as the smart home wireless network topology. Secondly, combining with proactive routing protocol and on-demand routing protocol, both a hybrid routing protocol and a detailed description of the route discovery and maintenance are given. We also designed a general information frame between control terminal and intelligent gateway, which makes the entire smart home system from the control terminal to smart appliances works efficiently, and allows the remote and local users able to access and control the smart appliances. Finally, a simple implementation of smart home control system is given to verification the feasibility of the communication protocol.
