Urban public transport system is an important infrastructure of economic productivity and social life.Rational allocation of bus resources for bus lines is of great significance to improving urban traffic environment and social benefits.However,the existing public transportation system often has a low efficiency and poor service level because of lack of scientific scheduling management methods.Therefore,this paper studied the capacity configuration methods for city bus lines.Firstly,the bus operating time is divided into several periods according to the traffic demand and road traffic congestion state with the clustering method of ordered sample,because the operating condition of bus lines varies significantly by different period like peck and non-peak hours.Each period has different traffic demand and traffic congestion characteristics,which accurately reflects the traffic regulation.The operating time division is the basis of capacity configuration for urban bus lines.Secondly,a model which configures bus departing interval and bus size considering overall passenger travel cost,operation cost of bus company and traffic demand is established after analyzing the objectives and constraint conditions of capacity allocation.And a method to calculate the transition time between two periods based on the traffic demand and road traffic congestion is proposed.Then,take a bus line as an example,the configuration model is solved by designing a improved genetic algorithm to get the optimal departure intervals and bus size for each period.After that,the result is optimized by the bus departure interval transition model and the final allocation scheme is determined which is proved to reduces the total cost.Finally,By using PARAMICS as a development platform,Hangzhou route network is established.And the Hangzhou Transit Routine Configuration Emulation system is finished based on C.Then the capacity configuration method is validated by the HZTRCE system,and it proves that the proposed method can better match and satisfy the passenger demand with a certain service level.In conclusion,the optimization method of capacity configuration reduces the capacity waste and the total cost of passengers and bus company under the precondition to satisfy the passenger flow demand.It provides a new theory support and method for setting headway and choosing bus size and makes a positive effect on the improvement of current public transportation system.
