In recent years, the development of railway transportation has brought great convenience to people, especially the development of China High-speed Railway(CHR). At the same time, the problem of insulator flashover breakdown, potential transformer exposés occur in the operation of the CHR. This mainly analyze the reason for explosion of potential transformer applied in CHR, at the same it put forward a new prevention measure. CHR was not struck by lightning in the running process, so it did not refer to lightning overvoltage.It firstly introduced Bullet Train power supply system voltage classification and its production process, detailed how over-voltage damage the insulation of potential transformer, and then using simulation software Matlab/Simulink to simulate the process of overvoltage generating, relating theoretical analysis to simulation results to analysis the reason for the potential transformer explosion, and proposed a new measure to prevent the explosion of potential transformer.In order to further analyze the influence of the process of CHR over-voltage of the potential transformer, and puts forward effective preventive measures, this paper establishes the simulation circuit of the main electrical parameters of the internal overvoltage of the CHR, analyzes the main influence factors of passing neutral section over-voltage, pantograph-catenary disconnection over-voltage, pantograph lifting and raising over-voltage, and the reasonable control measures. According to the simulation results and the CHR changing operating conditions, we can conclude that the excessive voltage and current caused by the ferromagnetic resonance is the main reason of potential transformer exploded, and come up with a new preventive measure.
