| New ship form development ability is the main criteria for measure ship technology. Promoting new ship form development ability has an important influence on enhancing the leading position in shipbuilding industry around the world. Ship self-design is a main method to develop new ship form. Accurately prediction of ship hydrodynamic performance and accurate feedback the flow field information on designated ship area are of great significance on ship surface optimizer, improving ship hydrodynamics performance and raise the efficiency of ship self-design.For now, CFD commercial software has many defects such as expensive installation charge, low computing efficiency, unable deeply secondary development and so on. While, a open-source, free CFD software named OpenFOAM provides a new choice for us. It has many advantages such as open-source, free, abundant interfaces, supporting massively parallel computing and so on. Users can customize the solver to solve a particular problem, thus increasing the depth and pertinence of work which has great significance on improving the level of ship hydrodynamics performance opti mization.Therefore, aiming at predicting frictional resistance coefficient and total resistance coefficient of the ship, this paper studies the analytical method of ship hydrodynamics performance with OpenFOAM. Content is as follow:(1) Based on Steady-state solver simpleFoam in OpenFOAM, using multiple molding method, the ship frictional resistance coefficient calculation method with OpenFOAM is summarized.Compared the Wigley ship model’s frictional resistance coefficient computed results computed by OpenFOAM and the CFD commercial software, Fluent with the result calculated by 1957 ITTC formula. And make precision evolution on OpenFOAM.Based on OpenFOAM, the frictional resistance coefficient of Series-60 ship model which hull geometry is more complex and more similar to real ship is calculated, further verifies OpenFOAM’s accuracy.(2) Based on multiphase solver interFoam in OpenFOAM, the ship total resistance coefficient calculation method with OpenFOAM is summarized.Compared the Wigley ship model’s total resistance coefficient computed results computed by OpenFOAM with the result of ship model test from Yokohama National University and the calculated results are analysed.This paper carries on the summary about the basic method of predicting frictional resistance coefficient and total resistance coefficient with OpenFOAM and and through a A series of practical examples to verify the reliability and accuracy of the method. It provides the reference for the further application in the analysis of ship hydrodynamic performance with OpenFOAM. |
