Zhejiang Power Grid is one of the main receiving-end grids of the "West to East Power Transmission Project", but has a complicated power structure and rare sources of peak load regulating. The existing Ultra-high-voltage (UHV) power transmission usually works in the "straight line" or "counter-peaking" dispatching mode, both of which are based on a sending-end surplus, which, to a great extent, puts a lot more pressure on the load regulating of Zhejiang Power Grid at low load, bringing great difficulties to the power dispatching work.This paper, targeting the practical problems of short-term generation scheduling of Zhejiang Power Grid, investigates certain aspects, such as analysis of Zhejiang grid load characteristics, and the working characteristics of the internal power resources of Zhejiang province. Based on these analyses, this paper has established a short-term dispatching model under the background of a coupling hybrid of UHVAC/UHVDC, from which an application system has been designed and established accordingly.(1) Starting with an index of load characteristics (yearly, monthly and daily) according to the measurement data from the Zhejiang power system, the characteristics of load of Zhejiang power grid have been analyzed. This provides a foundation for the appropriate arrangements of each power plant's work and for the research on coordination of multiple power resources.(2) According to the analysis of the characteristics of grid load, and considering the actual needs of Zhejiang Power Grid, a short-term grid dispatching model has been established, in which the original problem has been divided into five sub-problems:foreign power, water power, gas power, coal power, nuclear power, etc. For each sub-problem, an appropriate solution method has been designed. Finally, by utilizing actual historical data of the grid, the model was validated.(3) On the J2EE platform, Power Generation Planning Application System of Zhejiang Grid has been designed and developed. This system can be effectively used for dispatching analysis and calculation of the daily power generation of Zhejiang Power Grid Corporation. Having taken into account the needs of different users, the system proved to be steady, reliable and user-friendly.The final section contains a summary of the full study, and any issues that need to be further studied in the future.
