Design Study On The Public Space Of Contemporary European Museums

Nowadays, with the rapid development of economy in China, people’s material life and spiritual pursuit have been improved, especially for their pursuit of art and culture. Recently, domestic museums are experiencing the golden period of development, and the quality of the culture construction in China is in line with that of international standards. Meanwhile, with the advent of the era of information network, the social function of museum buildings has been experiencing subtle changes:the function and role of public space become more diversified, which poses new challenges to the design of public space. Additionally, European museums not only have a long history, but also have advanced modern design technique and theory researches. It is worth learning from for China. Therefore, the research subject of this article is the public space of European museum.This paper uses the research methods of field investigation, literature research, case analysis, diagram analysis, comparative study and summary. It’s divided into six chapters:the first chapter is introduction, mainly including the research background, content, significance and methods; The second chapter is written for the museum development overview, relevant theory researched both at home and abroad, brief summary on foreign and domestic museum construction and development, as well as review and summary on related domestic and foreign academic researches about the museum and the museum public space; The third, fourth chapter and fifth chapters, as the core, are interrelated to each other, while respectively analyses the museum construction form of public space, organization mode and scene construction to refine the characteristics and design methods; The sixth chapter is based on the perspective of comparison at home and abroad, summarizing the experiences and enlightenment to our country from museums in Europe, proposing constructive strategies to museum public space design as well as the construction of the museum in China.Currently, China has been in lack of the systematic study of the domestic museum public space, and through the opportunity to learn abroad, the author has carried on the on-the-spot investigations to dozens of spectacular museums in Europe and has held a large number of first-hand information. As the backing, this article has summarized and refined the design method of European museums public space through the specified research area, special subject research, systematic research strategy, so as to provide strategies and methods for the innovation of the construction of the museum and methods in China. Also, this article has been trying to provide some experiences and references to the public space design in China through the analysis, conclusion and summary of the actual project.
