As a key component of the differential, the performance of spur bevel gear has a direct affect on the work efficiency of the differential. Because of the complexity of working state of the gear transmission system, a variety of load and power plant, external incentives which caused by the prime mover and the load will appear; internal motivation which caused by the time-varying mesh stiffness and gear transmission error and tooth backlash will also appear. In order to reduce noise and vibration of the gear transmission system, the dynamics performance of modification spur bevel gear will be studied in this paper by means of dynamic simulation analysis.Gear modification is extremely important in the study on gear dynamics. Tooth profile modification mainly compensate fluctuation of gears meshing stiffness, gear eccentric loading caused by bending deformation of shaft. The objective of tooth profile modification is to obtain good contact spots, small transmission errors, and to reduce noise and vibration ultimately. Dynamic performance of modification gear is worth studying, that theory can be used to guide gear profile.The 3D modeling accuracy of spur bevel gear can affect the subsequent simulation results of dynamic analysis, and manufacturing precision. As the profile of spur bevel gear is relatively complex, many scholars use the principle of back cone to make the entity modeling, but this method is not accurate enough. Making use of the method that combining the Matlab and the Solidworks, the paper realize the 3D modeling of spherical involute spur bevel gear, which not only improve the modeling efficiency but also the modeling accuracy. In order to study the influence of the modification on the dynamic performance of the spur bevel gear, combined with the modification parameters designed, the 3D model of the spur bevel gear which meets simulation's need finally is completed, and it provides a certain technical support for the establishment of the dynamics model.Actually, gear system including many parts,such as gear deputy, drive shaft, supports bearing, prime mover and load. Not only itself structure and geometry characteristics, errors status of tooth, but also other parts of system has an effect on gear dynamic incentive. In addition, under the action of dynamic meshing force, gear system will produce dynamic response, vibration and noise. However, when establish vibration model of gear system, according to specific load and analysis purpose, requirements of gear system, analysis models of different types should be established. With a pair of gears as analysis object in this paper, assuming the support is rigid, taking into account torsional vibration and axial vibration of gear, the dynamic model of modification spur bevel gear is established. The model has laid the foundation for later dynamics simulation analysis.Although our research group have done in-depth research on tooth modification, modification and put forward some modification methods, such as isometric modification and arc modification, but no systematic study the dynamic performance of modification spur bevel gear. In this paper, the dynamics analysis software(Romaxdesigner) is used for establishing the dynamics simulation model and analyzing the dynamic performance of modification spur bevel gear. Combining with spur bevel gear dynamics theory, the dynamic performance of spur bevel gear and modification spur bevel gear can be obtained by use of dynamics simulation analysis, the dynamic performance of gear mainly include inherent characteristics, transmission error, vibration response. Then, contrasting the vibration performance of the spur bevel gear transmission system and modification spur bevel gear transmission system, influence law of different tooth profile modification parameters(length of modification, modification, modification curve) on the gear mesh performance would be summarized.
