In pharmaceutical industry which is one of the main industries of our country there are many time-honored brands that have been passed down up to now.These pharmaceutical time-honored herbal pieces brands possess profound tradition medicine culture and spiritual connotation and they are the “living fossil” making us proud.With the issue of GMP certification(Good Manufacturing Practice)significant changes have taken place in herbal pieces industry.Those small workshops or companies with small investment are gradually making changes.The enterprises approved by the latest GMP certification will develop in direction of branding,standardization and large scale.The packaging of time-honored brand herbal pieces is not only a protection to itself but also a way to express information and functions of the herbal pieces,what's more it is the most direct way to show culture value of the brand.Good Packaging of time-honored brand herbal pieces can improve the commercial value of the brand and propaganda Chinese medical culture.By using of case analysis and contrastive analysis methods,through discussing and analyzing the current situation of the packaging of time-honored brand herbal pieces,this paper explores the visual image,structure of the packaging of herbal pieces brand and material redesign strategies.It first introduces the concept of herbal pieces and discusses the packaging types of time-honored brand herbal pieces.It summarizes that herbal pieces packaging can be divided into medicinal herbal pieces packaging,health care herbal pieces packaging and edible herbal pieces packaging,then it points out the respective packaging characteristics of these three types.Second,it analyzes the development status of the packaging of time-honored brand herbal pieces and concludes problems of old fashion,tedious color,chaotic pictures and coexistence of roughpackaging and overpackaging.Then,the paper puts forward that combing traditional elements with modern design which will result in younger visual image and using reasonable packaging material to promote integration of environmental and safe packaging,in addition,simplifying packaging structure to make it more humanized.At last,basing on packaging design strategies for time-honored brand herbal pieces this paper makes a practice of herbal pieces packaging design by using Hunan JIUZHITANG as a case and try to achieve the purpose of publicity of brand image.This study can improve the packaging image of time-honored brand herbal pieces and promote the development of Brand Culture of Chinese Medicine,furthermore bring actual economic benefits to herbal pieces enterprises.
