Switched reluctance motor drive system (SRD) is a new mechatronic control system,which combines switched reluctance motor (SRM) and modern power electronics technology, control technology as a whole. SRM have many advantages,such as simple and sturdy structure, relatively low cost and so on.But more importantly, it has a wide speed range, high starting torque, high efficiency and good dynamic response,which attracts widespread attention of scholars at home and abroad. But because of the double salient pole structure and switched power supple,the torque ripple of SRM is serious. So The scope of its application is restricted.How to reduce the switched reluctance motor torque ripple becomes one of the focuses in research field of switched reluctance motor.The problem of torque ripple of SRM is further discussed in this paper.After summarizing all kinds of torque ripple minimization methods, a new strategy based on torque observer is presented.Switched reluctance motor torque is a nonlinear function with current and rotor position angle which makes torque calculation very difficult.It has some disadvantage of common torque estimation methods.A method based on neural network is proposed.BP (Back-Propagation) neural network which has the strong nonlinear mapping ability is used to map out the torque about the nonlinear relationship between the current and the rotor position angle and construct a switched reluctance motor torque observer.The torque observer is applied in Switched Reluctance Motors Direct Torque Control System to detect the SRM-phase instantaneous torque online and feedback the hree-phase synthesis of instantaneous torque.Torque hysteresis is used to minimize the torque ripple.A dynamic simulation model of SRD is established in the MATLAB/Simulink environment and the simulation results show that this method can reduce the torque ripple of SRM largely.Finally,software and hardware circuit is designed based on DSP TMS320F28335 as the CPU and a three phase 6/4 SRM.By comparing the experimental waveforms verify the correctness and feasibility of the proposed method.
