A Preliminary Study On Suzhou Lion Grove Realm Zen Creating Skill

Zen studies is not only Buddhism goes for the heart,but also the philosophy to explore the universe and people’s minds.The Chinese classical garden has been deveioping for three thousand years,from the palace garden of the Yin and Zhou Dynasties to the private gardens of Ming and Qing Dynastics.Zen and Chinese gardens have common ideology and culture foundation,they expressed the China’s traditional natural aesthetics through different interpretation.In the historical development of thousands of years,Zen and Chinese garden mutually penetrate,influence and replenish for each other to form an inseparable,complementary relationship.Today,however,compared to the unique Japanese Zen garden represented by dry stone shabby housed and white sand meditation dry landscape,our studies of Zen in garden is still need to be developed.This paper selected the famous garden Shi Zilin who was named Zen temple as the research object,the paper first explained the definition of Zen,the pursuit images(View)had of the Mind(Habitat)caused by Zen aesthetics is intended to help people to correctlu understand Zen and the mood we often talked and pave the way for creating a Zen garden later.Then the paper introduced the vicissitudes and pattern change of Lion Grove s at different times to help people to more comprehensively understand Lionlin(great changes have now been seen from it was first built);Finally,I analyzed Zen building of the Lion Grove in the Yuan and Ming period to re-examine the Lion Grove today for the perestive of Zen experience.Besides,the paper discussed the artistic and use of elements to create a Zen garden and explored modern sense of Zen gardens.I hope that through researching the way of creating a Zen garden,we can get the reference for the contemporary landscape gardening and have some enlightenment for the development of the future gardens.
