The Research On Narrative Design Method In Automotive Styling Design

Current Automotive Industry is constituted of different cultural backgrounds,technologies and arts which requires designers to consider the design in the context of different cultural backgrounds and aesthetic tastes on the basis of the requirements of the market and the new era to make the car styling of both aesthetic and practical value. At the same time, the new era gives car designers some business missions, the board market gives car designers a big stage to tell a good story. In the process of automotive research and development, using the narrative design method reasonably to resonate with customers is helpful to make the car design infectious and the market performance better.The research object of this paper is styling design, it explored how to apply the narrative design methods to car styling design reasonably. After analyzing and summarizing the relationship between environment, characters and themes, it proposed the narrative design method and applied different narrative strategy to different project which verifies the feasibility of the narrative design method preliminarily.Modeling design, as an important link of automotive product development and automotive branding, plays an important role in automotive research and development.It is also a complex combination of emotion and reason, which requires designers to have a large number of knowledge in multi-discipline, good artistic accomplishment and a keen market sense. Through the automotive narrative design, car designers can put the materials of social life and cultural environment into modern design concept.It establishes a spiritual connection with car designers and car users and improve the design efficiency under the premise that designers could fully express the core spirit of design.
