The Research Of Extra Engineering Cost Claim In Highway Construction Project

Recently, the increasing construction technology difficulty and project environment complexity in highway construction project lead a considerable number of construction changes and extra engineering. As a result, project claims have increased. Normally, extra engineering claim are much complex than general project claim due to its characteristics.Meanwhile, the keys of the successful cost claims are the appropriate way to calculate the of extra engineering and the appropriate strategies of cost claims. Therefore, this thesis will explore cost claim related issues through the perspective of contractors.Firstly, in order to give readers a clear understanding of extra engineering(i.e. scope,connotation, typical, types, characteristics), this thesis analyses the basis of project claims,calculation method, requirement approach through home and abroad literature review.Secondly, in order to analyses the configuration of extra engineering claim cost, this thesis analyses the applicability of three common extra engineering cost calculation methods(i.e.total expense analysis method, total expense rectification method, reality expense method), and provides three principles of extra engineering pricing. Furthermore, according to the third principle(calculating extra engineering cost in the macroscopic perspective), the thesis contributes a gray fuzzy estimation model of cost claim calculation. In addition, the realistic of the model has been verified through one real-life case. Furthermore, considering characteristics of the extra engineering cost claim, the thesis provides some appropriate cost claim strategies and approaches, which base on the reliable model.The purpose of this thesis is to improve the managerial effectiveness and the managerial level of project cost, and also to provide contractors with beneficial reference in extra engineering cost claims. Meanwhile, the research of extra engineering cost calculation methods based on the perspective of contractor interest.
