Aiming at some problems about current magnetic grease seal and brush seal, such as low bearing pressure ability, pole piece bumps against spindle frequently, biggish friction heat and necessary leakage, a new magnetic grease seal with flexible pole piece was presented and applied for a patent in this paper by combining adventages of magnetic grease seal and brush seal.Magnetic grease seal with flexible pole piece has lots of adventages of magnetic grease seal and brush seal, such as great bearing pressure ability, realizing zero leakage, excellent adaptation for decentration or vibration of spindle and so on. In this paper, firstly, the working principle of magnetic grease seal with flexible pole piece was analysed, the structure and materials of device were determined. Thereout, bearing pressure ability, structure optimization, heat transfer characters, cooling project and experimental study of magnetic grease seal with flexible pole piece was studied deep and systematically.By ANSYS and simplifying flexible pole piece, FEM model for magnetic grease seal with flexible pole piece was set up. Its magnetic field intensity and distribution were got. By contrasting the results of magnetic grease seal with flexible pole piece and current magnetic grease seal, the results proved that flexible pole piece can promote bearing pressure ability of seal. At same time, by orthogonal test, the influence of relative design parameters on bearing pressure ability was analysed, such as the thickness of baffle and coating, the relative permeability, length, thickness of flexible pole piece and optimal value for them were got. Besides, the influence of decentration or vibration of spindle on bearing pressure ability was studied. By numerical analysis, the results attested that magnetic grease seal with flexible pole piece has better bearing pressure ability and adaptation for decentration or vibration of spindle.By FLUENT, FEM model for magnetic grease seal with flexible pole piece was built. The friction heat and power consumption between magnetic grease, flexible pole piece and spindle in theory were analysed, the thermal field of seal, temperature of magnetic grease and heat transfer characters were got. For controlling temperature of magnetic grease, the influence of relative parameters on heat transfer characters was analysed, such as the speed of spindle, diameter, arrangement angle and interference magnitude of flexible silk, optimal value for them were got. Besides, by numerical analysis, the results attested that cooling water has great effect for cooling seal. By increasing flux of cooling water and reducing temperature of cooling water on entrance, lower temperature of magnetic grease and better heat transfer efficiency were got.Testing system about magnetic grease seal with flexible pole piece was established, the design and manufacture of seal device were accomplished. By experimental study on bearing pressure ability and heat transfer characters, the excellent property of magnetic grease seal with flexible pole piece was certified. In comparison with experiment, the results proved that numerical analysis is right.In this paper, by performance analysis and experimental study, the property of magnetic grease seal with flexible pole piece was demonstrated. By studying on magnetic grease seal with flexible pole piece, a new way to composite various sealing technology was supplied, abundant experience about improving sealing was accumulated. The results of study made a contribution to enhance sealing performance and expanding application.
