To meet the needs of landscape, a landscape bridge usually has the negative characteristic of non-linear, irregular shape and poor substitutability, causing the result that traditional design method can’t meet the requirments of complex deformation shape design and production. Parametric design method is an effective method when facing an architectural complex-form design project by transferring complicated restrictions into parameters and controlling the parametric model by pre-designed rules. In this paper, parametric design method will be applied to the design process of a landscape bridge, its application strategy and method will be studied.Firstly, the thesis introduces the features of parametric design software, and adopts Rhino+Grasshopper parameterized software to complete the design of the landscape bridge. The thesis studies the basic principle of parametric design by using Grasshopper software and provides a summary of the general process of parametric design, including determination of design parameters, design algorithm, parameter adjustment and data optimization.Secondly, according to the structural and design characteristic of the landscape bridge engineering, the thesis analyzes parametric modeling idea which is applicable to road alignment and bridge structure, and then proposes specific solutions of parametric model. The parametric design method is applied into conceptual design stage, preliminary design stage and construction stage for a landscape bridge, exploring its application strategy in the engineering.Thirdly, the thesis analyses the advantage of parametric design method over traditional design method from four aspects of design ideas, design platform, design methods and collaborative design. Based on Rhino+Grasshopper parametric platform and AutoCAD development platform, to use the parametric design method and traditional design method in landscape bridge project to solve practical problems and compare the difference between them in work efficiency and practice effect.Finally, on the basis of Rhino+Grasshopper parameterized software platform, the thesis applies parametric design method into landscape bridge project, and then proposes targeted optimization solutions involving parametric design method, to improve the design efficiency. In addition, we summarize the problems and characteristics of the method in application. Based on the current situation of parametric design, the thesis also analyzes the misunderstanding and reasons why it is difficult to popularize the parametric design method in domestic construction industry, finds the problems in the application.
