Rotating machinery and pipeline system are essential for the petrochemical, and aerospace industry. With the continuous development of rotating machinery, multi-span rotors have gained a large popularity due to the increase of the maximum rotating speed, the requirements of rotors vibration control become higher. This paper have investigated the mechanism of vibration control of rotors controlled by tuned mass absorbers, and have designed an active control system to control the absorber in order to suppress the vibration of rotors. Furthermore, the vibration of pipeline system is significantly reduced by tuned mass absorbers and viscous damping devices. The content of this paper are summarized as follow:1.The vibration causes of rotating machinery and pipeline system have been analysed. Besides, the research progress of vibration control methods and pipeline systems have been reviewed. This chapter mainly focuses on application of tuned mass absorber.2.A tuned mass absorber was designed and a novel method was proposed to control the absorber's frequency actively. Four-span rotors test bench was designed to study the vibration control effect of absorbers. A single absorber without on-off control and four absorbers with and without control have been demonstrated and the results reveal the vibration reduction effect of absorber.3. Based on the rotating speed, an active control system was proposed to control the frequency of tuned mass absorber online. The system controls the electronic clutch and power supply to make the electromagnet on tuned mass absorber to pull in or disengage. A single-span rotor test bench was built; the active control system was used in vibration control experiment. The vibration suppression effect of absorber in speed up and speed down progress have been explored.4. An integral package tuned mass absorber is proposed. This type kind of absorber makes it easier to install and maintain. A pipeline test bench was built to verify the effect of absorber, the absorber was installed at both vertical and horizontal pipeline, the results illustrate that the absorber could work effectively.5.The pipeline vibration status of petrochemical plant has been investigated. This chapter simulated the pipeline by finite element software ANSYS and SAP2000, the cause of pipeline vibration have also analysed. According to all of investigations and analysis, viscous damping devices installation scheme was determined. The vibration reduction program has been completed successfully.
