The Internet of Things (IoT) is an important part of information technology following the computer and the Internet. A remote monitoring platform based on IoT is proposed to solve problems existing in currently remote monitoring system for online oil filter such as unreasonable communication architecture, inconvenience and so forth. The remote monitoring platform replaces original embedded controller as the new server so that the problems can be solved radically.The main work is summarized as follows:1. Design of overall system. The overall system architecture is designed according to the requirements of oil filter manufacturer. The abandonment of the traditional C/S structure brings about great improvement of system performance and functionality.2. Development of front and rear-end application of monitoring platform. For the rear-end, data transmitting program based on the I/O Completion Port (IOCP) model is developed, to meet the demands of connection management and data transmitting. For the front-end, web application based on ASP.Net framework is developed, to meet the needs of human-computer interaction.3. Design of embedded gateway module. In the aspect of hardware, embedded gateway module is designed based on S3C2440A core board and relevant circuits such as USB, serial, ethernet, Wi-Fi, GPRS module are added. In terms of software, WinCE kernel is customized including modifying BSP driver. And corresponding embedded application is developed to acquisite, process and transmit data.4. Comprehensive testing. A series of testing including inter-module communication testing, real-time testing, simulated stress testing, overall functional and compatibility testing, and exceptional situation testing are conducted, and problems discovered during the testing are improved and perfected.The results show that the remote monitoring platform based on IoT for online oil filter has a more reasonable communication architecture with excellent I/O performance and user experience. The system is stable, and meets the needs of manufacturer. Remote monitoring platform has a good versatility and scalability, and can be used for remote monitoring and online diagnosis of elevators, cranes and other equipment as well.
