As a reliability design method, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis can discover the vulnerability in product, make some maintenance or remedy measures and improve the quality of the product.Lubrication system is one of the most important parts of the engine. It provides certain pressure, temperature, plenty of oil for the surface of the friction parts in engine. It is essential to the normal work of the engine. When applied to engine lubrication system, this method can optimize the working performance and prolong the service life of the engine.Firstly, before analyzing the common failure mode of Lubrication system, it is necessary to understand the composition and structure of the lubrication system so as to formulate the reliability block diagram of Lubrication system and analyze the failure mode of the system. After that by studying their effect on the working performance of the lubrication system, it will make a summary with the function of lubrication system.Secondly, it would make the criticality analysis about the failure mode of lubrication system by using a method called Risk Priority Number. Before doing the critically analysis, it is important to define the ideal of three parameters of Risk Priority: severity, Occurrence, detection. Then it would formulate the table of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis. Eventually this paper would evaluate the severity of each failure mode and the reliability of the lubricating system. For the most serious failure mode, it must take some measures to reduce the harm.Thirdly, to reduce the harm to the lubrication system which caused by some important components, it would study their operating feature and failure mode, explore the failure principle of them and put forward the corresponding optimization measures to improve their reliability.
