As an important part of manufacturing, the production line has good continuity, high production efficiency, has attracted the attention of more and more manufacturing enterprises, has wide application in practical production. The pros and cons of production performance is influenced by many factors, such as buffer size, quality inspection strategy, equipment performance degradation and so on. Supported by the national science and technology main project “automatic car transmission gear production line”, the two-stage serial production line with quality information feedback is established as an example to analysis its performance by using the simulation experiment method, to provide experimental and theoretical basis for the design, adjustment and improvement of the gear production line.Firstly, the two-stage production line quality inspection information feedback model is described and set up, the degradation process of machining system in the two-stage production line is studied and modeled by Markov stochastic process theory. The quality failure type in the production process is analyzed and the corresponding relation between the state of machining system and its quality failure is researched, then the characteristics of quality failure in every state are studied by using the quality test data fitting method.Secondly, the control program with the SimTalk language for the experiment is written to control the action of machining system, testing station, maintenance strategy, the indicators for evaluating the performance of the production line is determined and the variability of the processing time is analyzed. The two-stage production line simulation model is built based on the eM-Plant platform. After that, some experimental scheme is designed to analyze the performance of the production lineThen, according to the experiment scheme as mentioned before, experiment is performed to get and deal with the experimental data. The effect of change of the processing time and its variability, the buffer size, and machining system processing performance degradation on the performance of the two-stage production line, the connection among the change of various factors and performance production line is discussed.Finally, the serial gear production line is established as an example.to analyze the effect on its performance for different improvement methods and the effectiveness of the several performance raising methods proposed above is analyzed.
