Tire as an important part of the car, is one of the indispensable aspects of the rapid development of the automotive industry. As the tire is used more and more widely, Higher performance of the tire is also put forward, safety, comfort, speed, durability, energy efficiency and environmental protection etc. In order to meet the market demand, the tire manufacturers need to improve tires in the material formulation, processing technology and structure design.Tire molding is the key process in the manufacture of radial tire. the quality and performance is obviously related to the product molding process. There are strict requirements on the length and alignment of middle parts during molding. The CCD digital imaging technology is applied in the paste of belt to ensure that the belt is fixed with the proper lengh and aligment, the deviation can be corrected in time.There are problems in the lengthing and centering of belt during the tire productive process. Operators should adjust the belt manually. Reduce productivity and increase labor intensity. In order to solve these problems, designs a control system to achieve automatic lengthing and centering of belt based on CCD digital imaging technology. The main task is as below:Describes radial tire basic knowledge, include its structure, function and classify, familiar with tire building process, definites technical request of belt.Analysis composition of belt centering system and working principle, founds mathematic model, designs PID control algorithm, carries out simulation, makes motion planning for the length of belt.Installs line CCD sensor and LED light source According to the actual situation, calibrates line CCD sensor, extracts the edge of belt from cathched images by image process technology.Accomplishs sofrware and hardware design. uploads location information to PC by OPC technology, programs by RSLogix software, downloads program to PLC processor and calculates the position deviation, controls actuator using the PID control algorithm, fit belt to belt & tread drums properly.Finally, applies this control system to tire bulding, the result shows that this transformation can shorten the product period, reduce labor intensity and improve the pass rate and overall performance.
