With the development of modern war, the electromagnetic rail gun in the new concept of kinetic energy has been widely concerned because of its simple structure. In the rail gun system, the track is subject to the constraints of materials, processes and costs, so that it is very difficult to develop. In the laboratory, simulated load of electromagnetic railgun is a good choice to solve the difficulty of pulse generator experiment and track development.Firstly, based on the principle of the simulation of the electromagnetic rail gun, simulated load design goal is obtained by fitting the load current waveform with ideal current waveform. Then, selected coaxial structure of simulated load by reference transmission and measuring device for large current, and put forward 5 constraints of the structure–resistance constraint, inductors constraint, the maximum temperature constraint, length constraint and stress constraints.Secondly, using the inductance constraint and the length constraint to obtain preliminary structure of the simulated load, then on the basis of the simulation of the DC resistance, two kinds of temperature rise hypothesis are put forward, and obtain the range of thickness of inner and outer cylinder. Considering skin effect and temperature influence, select the most favorable data in the thickness range to calculate the working resistance and the maximum temperature rise, which is validated by FEA.Finally, according to the analysis method of thick wall tube and thin wall tube, the stress state of inner cylinder and outer cylinder are calculated, which is validated by FEA. Front stage equipment interface and short circuit ring between inner and outer are important part of simulated load. The arc clamping device is used for the vertical compression of the interface to ensure the coaxial of cable and the simulated load. The short circuit loop adopts the continuous adjustable structure, which provides convenience for the experiment of the pulse generator.
