The tubular-joints were widely used in the steel structure buildings, bridge and ocean platforms because of the advantages like light quality, simple force transmission and economic adaptation. The mechanical property of the tubular-joints under static load has been explored increasingly perfect. However, the property of the tubular joints under dynamic load need to be further study. The damage of the steel structure caused by accidental loads such as earthquake, explosion and impact occurs usually. Even if a lot of experiments and date analysis were carried out for the impact resistance of steel structure. The key which is most important that the steel structure has been worked under the effect of pressure was ignored. And the correction between the pressure and the property under dynamic load is very close. Meanwhile, The local impact resistance performance of tubular joints subjected to axial pressure is relatively poor. Hence, it is more and more important to study the behavior of steel structure under impact loading with axial pressure. This research aims to study the resistance to impact working mechanism of chord strengthened with stiffening rings under axial pressure according the experimental study and finite element study. The main aspects and conclusions are listed as follows:1.Experimental study of tubular T-joint under lateral impact loading was conducted through the drop rig. The failure mode of the different types of tubular T-Joints were determined and residual deformation was calculated by contrast of the resistance to impact performance between two common specimens and three reinforced specimens. Make sure the effectiveness of stiffening rings through the analysis of the performance indexes including impact force, displacement and strain.2.The model of the tubular T-joint was built using finite element software ABAQUS to verify the accuracy and reliability of the FE model. And the next mechanism analysis can be revealed based on the verification.3.The mechanism study of tubular T-joint under lateral impact loading was conducted. The local depression and whole bending were distinguished using the method of equal area axial and then the damage order and numerical values have been revealed. At last, the strain development characteristics of 5 tubular T joints were reveled after the 5 types of strains were calculated4.Parameter analysis has been done. The time history curve of impact force, displacement time history curve and local failure mode were reveled caused by different yield strength, impact energy, axial compression ratio and different size of stiffening rings.
