Construction is one of the most important industries of China's economy and it plays a huge role for the economic growth and social progress. However, due to the low information levels of traditional construction mode and lack of communications, islands of information exists between all participants in the construction process. It is difficult to undertake effective sharing of information and release effective collaboration. All these reasons make it hard the project goal of building life-cycle management and caused a lot of unnecessary waste of human, material and financial resources. With the development of ICT technologies, such as Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, Big Data, broader interoperability and more real-time data access can be achieved, making computing units in the system and physical objects can be highly coupled through networking. Under this circumstance, interconnected exchange and real-time perception of information in construction project processes are possible to be implemented. Participants can collaborate much effectively with each other, which promotes the integrated coordination and control in build processes. In other words, construction can be built in a more smart way. In this paper, we conclude this construction mode as "Smart Construction" and give its concept and connotation. We analysis its basic features and establish the overall architecture of "Smart Construction".To achieve effective construction information exchange and share in the construction project, we propose the concept of standardized construction service and divide the construction processes into some standardized construction services and take use of the ontology language to present its formal description. The ontology model of standardized construction service, which is the base of information communication and share, is built by leveraging protégé design tool. We also release an ontology knowledge management system of standardized construction service, which provides a platform for knowledge acquisition, maintenance, storage, sharing in the standardized construction service domain.
