The Study On The Wuhan’s Buddhist Temples Garden Space

The Buddhist temple’s garden is one important type of Chinese classic gardens,regardless of its architecture or landscape. Wuhan is located in the center of Chinese hinterland, and is essential to the spread of Buddhism in China. Wuhan has dozens of Buddhist temples, and a lot of famous ancient temples own long history and last to today.This paper chooses Buddhist temple’s space as the subject, based on an empirical study and relative theories, is to study Wuhan’s Buddhist temples garden space. It mainly cares about three aspects, focusing on spatial elements, spatial feature and spatial sequence.The main paper has four parts. The first part carries out the study of spatial elements of Wuhan’s Buddhist temples gardens. Through large amount of references and documents study, it shows the historical evolution of Wuhan’s Buddhist temples. It makes an conclusion of the current situation and water-mountain layout feature of the Wuhan’s Buddhist temples. it fixes 8 Buddhist gardens as the typical cases to study. In the second part, It mainly studies the spatial elements of the Buddhist temples gardens. From which we can know the elements refers to 4 categories: artificial landscapes, the Buddhist architecture, landscape architecture and plants, and analyzed and summarize all kinds of spatial elements present characteristics in the Gardens, as well as in space. The third part mainly focuses on spatial features. Firstly, extracting the universal Buddhist building layout from the Chinese Buddhist temples gardens, and summing up six typical Buddhist landscape space. Then, extracting the typical space from Wuhan’s eight Buddhist landscape space to the key analysis and horizontal comparison. The fourth part mainly studies of wuhan’s buddhist temple garden space sequence, could be divided into the courtyard type of wuhan’s buddhist temple garden space, gallery courtyard and highlightsthree categories, surveying and mapping shall be selected case on behalf of the plan,extract the node space, summarizes the node space sequence; Through mapping the buddhist temple garden space motion analysis and spatial visual interface analysis,comparative analysis of the buddhist temple garden integral space and conditions; Based on spatial scale of quantitative indicators, to get out of the kuang the model that the space of each node type, in combination with the node space sequence kuang the pattern sequence are obtained.
