Today the rapid development of modern logistics leads the pursuit of high efficiency of container loading and unloading. Owing to the containers on the boat stacked in order, any carelessness will knock over those containers and may cause serious security incidents. Besides, the trolley of quayside container crane itself moves very fast, so the driver located upper on hanger is not sensitive with the observation of the height of the hanger. As a result, considering the safety, the drivers usually pull the hanger very high, even higher than the container under the hanger. But the running track caused by the height increases the running distance, especially the hoisting height. It may increase the hoisting time, decrease the efficiency and greatly increase energy consumption. Meanwhile it will increase physical deterioration and reduce the wire rope life. In addition, because of insensitive to height in the process of hoisting, the high speed during the container landing and lifting process will bring a lot of impact damage to the containers and vehicles, as well as excessive wire rope sending will damage wire rope.To overcome these shortcomings of the existing technology, the use of PLC technology, network communication technology, sensor technology, HMI has developed container handing crane operating surveillance systems, and put forward the “optimization hoisting” experience algorithm. The system uses two laser ranging sensors to monitorthecontainersunder the quayside container crane all the time. And using industrial control with PLC programming to deal with the data on the laser range finder returned timely and effectively. It provides a timely and sufficient basic data for the safety and economical control of the quayside container crane.
