Thrust reverser unwanted deployment in flight will imperil aircraft flight safety badly. Civil aviation regulation has a strict requirement to the safety of the design of thrust reverser. The paper is base on thrust reverser design feather on one type of turbofan domestic civil aircraft, analyze the safety of thrust reverser, and propose some optimize actions pertinently, which make the thrust reverser safety meet the requirement of airworthiness standard.Apply fault tree analysis method to analyze the safety of thrust reverser, model the complicated system and build a fault tree mode which takes the thrust reverser unwanted deployment in flight as the top issue. By the fault tree analysis, find out the probability of the thrust reverser unwanted deployment in flight and the minimum cut sets, and line them by the impact to the top issue. By the bottom importance analysis, find out the most important bottom issue, and optimize the bottom issues pertinently,eliminate the common-model fault and reduce some bottom issue fault probability, improve the safety of thrust reverser obviously and reduce the probably of thrust reverse unwanted deployment in flight to extremely impossible level. Finally, the thrust reverser gets the approval of civil aviation administrator of china.By the safety analysis to the thrust reverser, find out that the three lines of defense is the guarantee to the safety, and the independence control of the three lines is most important to the safety.
