The boarding bridge is the connection channel between the passenger terminal and aircraft, not only shelters the passengers from the wind, rain and the sun, but also shortens the time the passengers' boarding and arrival, and specifies the range of travelers in the process of moving, all of which play an important role in improving the airport operating efficiency and ensuring the safety. The acquisition of the important real-time operating parameters of the boarding bridge, can determine whether it is normal or not, and provides early warning in case of system failure, but the related research is very few at the present time. In order to make the airport's operating efficiency and safety further improved, a monitoring system to the boarding bridge that has a global vision is designed.The wireless sensor network solution is adopted in the monitoring system, each boarding bridge is installed a wireless network sensor node, and all the nodes are composed into a self-organizing network through the wireless sensor network protocol. A wireless sensor node hardware platform is designed, using the microcontroller of MC9S12DG128 which produced by Freescale and the transceiver nRF905 provide by Nordic. For the realization of the nodes self-organized into a network, the CSMA/CA protocol and RTS/CTS packet is adopted in the data link layer to regulate the access channel of multi-point wireless terminal, and a improved DSR protocol is adopted in the network layer to realize route discovery and route maintenance. The monitoring interface is programmed, using the Visual C++ 6.0 to call for the GIS development component MapObjects and SQL Server 2005.The test results show that the wireless sensor network protocol is effective and great throughput, which can meet the requirements that the information updates timely. With the help of the monitoring interface, the position and other information of the boarding bridge can be displayed on the electronic map in real-time, which greatly facilitate the maintenance and management of the boarding bridge at the airport.
