Aircraft landing gear shock absorber system is one of the most prominent issue of the landing gear design. Absorber is essential for the safe and sound landing of the aircraft.. If shock absorber piston rod can not be compressed, namely the impact energy can not be dissipated during aircraft take-off and landing, this will cause serious accidents. Therefore, it is necessary to research on that phenomenon which we also call shock absorber binding.The main landing gear shock absorber of an UAV has been investigated as the research object.Based on the classical binding analysis theory, the influence of the absorber has been ignored. The mathematical model of binding characteristics has been established. Also, the binding characteristics of different working conditions have been analyzed, and it can be concluded that the critical friction coefficient of right turning condition less than 0.1. The UAV absorber may bind. This paper also researches the influence of upper and lower bearing initial spacing, axle half shaft and torque arm position on binding characteristics. Afterwards, through structural parameters optimization design,land gear weight is able to decrease of about 6%. And then, model of binding characteristics and FEA model have been established to research the influence of strut stiffness. The study shows that flexible landing gear has enormous influence on shock absorber binding characteristics. Finally, a test scheme has been set up to research binding characteristics which will provide a theoretical guidance for the study of the landing gear shock absorber binding characteristics test.
