Self-service baggage check-in system is an important part of the self-service system for air travelers. Most air travelers need to checked baggage. If the baggage cannot be checked by self-service, passengers need to take the time to artificial luggage check-in counter. In this paper, in regard to the air travelers' check-in modes,an optimization program for the process of self-service check-in is proposed, an algorithm of automatically checking airline baggage specifications is studied and the optimization design of luggage detection and transmission controllers is completed.Firstly, the business process of airline check-in is studied and the modes of "one-stop" and "two-stage" are presented especially for the passengers with baggage.The analysis of ESIA is used to redesign a new process and machines and the effect of the system in different check-in ways and modes is summarized.Secondly, according to the problem of automatic detection for airline baggage, an algorithm based on cube-fitting is used to inspect airline luggage dimension and an algorithm based on hierarchical clustering is applied to detect the number of self check-in airline luggage. The laser detection experiments have carried out in single-plane and dual-plane laser system and error analysis were done.Thirdly, the rough set theory is employed to the control system based on finite state machines. An algorithm of rule reduction based on inductive value reduction is proposed, and the baggage control system is optimized successfully. By the verification of experiments, the controller after reducing not only ensures reliability,but also improves the stability of control efficiency.Finally, the appearance, hardware and software of self-service baggage system is presented. The decision variables are captured based on the idea of finite state machine and condition attributes to match the decision table, and the experiments of the consignment process are resulted.
