Simplicity and flexibility of laser triangulation measuring system gives the laser triangulation powerful plasticity, new technology is constantly applied to the traditional laser triangulation, which makes the application areas of laser triangulation increasingly widespread, and it has developed a variety of measurement forms. However, in the application process, the existing laser triangulation device range, magnification and other system parameters are fixed, which profoundly affect the expansion of application areas. Based on this, a laser triangulation system in which the measurement parameters can be variable within a certain range is designed. The system selects direct Incident Method as the theoretical method, using a zoom lens group to change the system magnification, by adding two mirrors in the beam path to change the direction of imaging planes, which can ensure the system always meets the perfect imaging conditions, no matter parameter changes or not, reaching the purpose of system parameters variable.This paper first theoretically analyzed the feasibility of the design method, and based on the theoretical requirements, derived the constraints of the optical system each parameter; then used the ZEMAX to design and analyze the optical system, got the specifications of each imaging lens system, selected the suitable optical components, and designed the appropriate mechanical construction; and then utilized VC and MATLAB mixed programming method to complete the preparation of the system measurement software, realized the control of imaging camera and the real-time display of measurement images and measurement results; finally, after assembling the system, finished the calibration experiments.The analysis of each set of experimental data show that the system measurement error does not exceed ±15?m, and there has no significant increase when system parameter changes. The system has the function that system range and rate or other parameters can be variable, reaching the design goal.
