Important building, such as military command posts, government buildings, shopping malls, can easily become the target of terrorist attacks and wars attacks, because once these building were destroyed, not only can cause a lot of people casualties, but will aroused people into panic and demoralized the military and masses.Reinforced concrete frame structure has become the most important form of modern architecture. Progressive collapse is an extreme form of collapse that is disproportionate to the originating cause. FRP(Fiber Reinforced Polymer) may be used to retrofit existing reinforced concrete beams and provide the ductility and integrity to resist progressive collapse.1?The Chinese embassy in Yugoslavia, a RC frame structure, was designed in this paper with PKPM. A sub-structure with failure middle column were selected as objects from the embassy. Three scale specimens, include an unreinforced specimen, a CFRP-strengthened specimen and a GFRP-strengthened specimen, were designed and made.2?The displacement-force mixed loading way had been employed to obtain the test date such as deformation ability, bearing capacity, stiffness, failure pattern and failure energy under collapse limit state. The structural ductilty factor of CFRP-strengthened specimen and GFRP-strengthened specimen were increased 40% and 60%. And the failure energy were increased 20% and 52%. The structure ductility and energy dissipation ability of RC frame structures were improved after retrofitted by FRP. It means the FRP retrofitted RC frame structures can reduce the risk of progressive collapse3?The explicit finite element method was used to analysis those tests in Ls-Dyna.The process and energy curves of the test were simulated successfully after select cap model and orthotropic elastic model. The finite element model based on the test was used as calibration model and adjust some parameters, such as FRP pasting position, the anchor pint, FRP length, FRP thickness to get the best retrofit project.
