In Guangdong, there are a lot of high liquid limit granite residual soils. Due to the lithology impact of granite, compared to other kinds of high liquid limit, this residual soil has the characteristics of high liquid limit, high saturation, strong compressibility, high natural water content, difficult to be compacted and poor permeability. It also has special physical and mechanical properties. This paper relies on the project of Longchuan-Huaiji TJ17 contract section of Shantou-Kunming expressway. Through field investigation of high liquid limit soil, field test and indoor test were carried out. And the following conclusions were drawn:First of all, the mechanical and physical properties of high liquid limit soil were analyzed by the physical mechanics test of high liquid limit soil in Longchuan-Huaiji TJ17 section of Shantou-Kunlonexpressway. The compaction mechanism of high liquid limit soil was analyzed from the aspects of structure and three-phase component of high liquid limit soil. The compaction factors affecting the high liquid limit soil were analyzed. And at the same time, the filling control measures of the high liquid limit soil subgrade were obtained.Secondly, for the high liquid limit soil of Longchuan-Huiji No.TJ17 contract section of Shan-Kun expressway, a series of tests were carried out after the lime-blending improved, and the effects of lime dosage on the strength of high liquid limit soil were analyzed. The test results showed that after improved with 6% calcium lime, the pavement performance of high liquid limit clay is good as roadbed soil, which can meet the highway subgrade filling requirements and has high cost performance.Finally, the Lizheng geotechnical calculation and analysis software is used to figure out the most dangerous sliding surface and safety factor of slope. The stability of natural state and the strengthened of high liquid limit clay slope were analyzed, and slope treatment measures were numerical analyzed and assessed.According to the above analysis, this paper provides the technical support for the construction of high liquid limit soil slope and subgrade by analyzing and studying the properties of high liquid limit soil.
