Green Packaging Design Of Traditional Chinese Medicinal Herbs Of Modern Times

To study on green packaging design of traditional Chinese medicinal herbs of modern timesTraditional Chinese medicine has a long history in our country. Nowadays people highly praise natural medicines and the World Health Organization also promotes the use of traditional Chinese medicine because of its low cost, low toxicity as well as few side effects, which makes more and more standard traditional Chinese medicinal herbs enter the international market as commodities. A good packaging design can stimulate the development of processing, transport and sales of traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, create more labor employment, and help the country to achieve the industrial transformation. However, since traditional Chinese medicinal herbs have complex origins and are sold as agricultural and sideline products rather than commodities in the current market, most of the medicinal herb packaging is simple and crude and lacks the unified standard. Furthermore, traditional Chinese medicinal herbs tend to be wrapped by modern Western medicine or gift packaging, which causes that their circulating packaging loses the opportunity to spread our national characteristics.This topic, based on the concept of “green packaging”, will explore the possibility of structure extending in packaging design of traditional Chinese medicinal herbs by design of reducing usage of materials and extending the usage period of their own packaging, in order to reduce energy consumption, save natural resources, and implement the study of significance of green packaging on environment protecting and resource recycling. The practice work, starting with the design concept of “one paper shaping” and involved with the ideas of classical Chinese traditional culture, is a new exploration and try on the packaging design of medicinal herbs with cultural nature.
