Suzhou ancient city preserved a large number of ancient buildings, these ancient buildings have a certain culture, watch and use value, is a non-renewable cultural carrier, constitute the overall history and culture of Suzhou city style. Ancient architecture "protection" is the use of "renewal, transformation, re-use" approach to extend its value, but because of modern people's daily living habits undergone great changes compared with ancient times, not only to the function of the ancient building conversion and re-use made a request, but also to the comfort of ancient buildings to a certain standard. The protection of ancient buildings is imminent, the way in which architecture can be preserved is to meet the changing use and requirements of people in the changing times. In this paper, CFD (PHOENICS) numerical simulation technology is used to simulate the indoor and outdoor wind environment of different ancient buildings in Suzhou ancient city. The simulation results are compared with the measured results to verify the reliability of the simulation results. Simulation for four different situations: different seasons, different wind direction, building doors and windows fully opend and in the measurement, the number of doors and windows opend. At the same time, the factors and problems affecting the different conditions of the wind environment are analyzed. According to the simulation data and reference materials, the different design of the patio unit, the position of the inlet and outlet and the ratio of the inlet and outlet are put forward. And the PHOENICS software was used to re-simulate the hypothetical situation to get the optimal space optimization plan.In the study of ancient buildings in Suzhou ancient city, I choose three ancient buildings of different functions in the ancient city as the research case. After field measurement and numerical simulation, the wind environment of the ancient buildings was simulated and analyzed. The wind environment around the buildings in summer and winter was different. The distribution of the wind environment was different and the comfort was different. The main reasons for these changes are the arrangement of the buildings, the form of the patio unit, the venturi effect, the eddy current, and the extent of the Scenic Area that are affected by the building height. The indoor wind environment was related to the width of building, length of building, doors and windows open position, indoor separation and so on. Compared with the measured data, it is proved that the simulation results can be referenced. According to the patio unit on the surrounding wind environment to optimize the different combinations. According to the different sash open way to the natural wind in the indoor distribution influence to select the suitable function room. According to the inlet and outlet location and proportion to select the appropriate building windows and doors set up. Using software analysis and theoretical inference, to prove the rationality of these measures. The research results of this paper are based on the "protection, renewal and reuse" of ancient buildings. The author hopes to provide useful reference value for numerical analysis and comfort of building ventilation.
