With the aggravations of environmental pollution and the impacts of energy supply fluctuation to the shipping industry,it has been a hot research topic to improve ships' energy efficiency.As a technology that converts heat energy into electric energy,thermoelectric generation has unique advantages in the use of waste heat.Recycling waste heat of ship by thermoelectric generation technology,which can improve the utilization rate of the fuel,but also reduce the heat loss and pollutant emissions.Therefore,on the basis of the characteristics of ship's waste heat,the research on the thermoelectric generation using ship's waste heat as the heat source is carried out,the main research works include:Firstly,according to Panama,Aframax,Suezmax and VLCC oil tankers of a ocean shipping company,sevsral ships has been selected for each type and the operational data is calculated and analyzed,the different waste heat utilization scheme then designed,which lays the foundation for the further study of thermoelectric generation with ships' waste heat.Secondly,the thermoelectric generator experimental station has been designed and built,the impacts of several factors to thermoelectric generation device,including thermal contact resistance,contact pressure,temperature at the hot end,load resisitance and connection types of thermoelectric generators has been researched.The volt ampere characteristics,output power,open circuit voltage and efficiency of the system under different conditons have been obtained.According to the research,the experimental results shows:1)when the hot surface temperature remains 80?,85?,90? and 95?,The maximum output power were corresponding increased by 103%,107%,105%and 107%when using thermal grease compared with graphite sheets.2)when the hot surface temperature remains 80?,85?,90?and 95?,the corresponding maximum output power of one piece of TEP126 were 0.462W,0.555W,0.658W and 0.766W,when the hot surface temperature remains 100?,110?,120? and 130?,the corresponding maximum output power were 0.765W,1.005W,1.273W and 1.568W.3)A device comprising 16 thermoelectric generators is processed,when the hot surface temperature remains 80?,85?,90? and 95?,The system efficiency is 1.4%,1.53%,1.62%and 1.77%respectively.At last,based on the main engine cylinder water system in Dalian Maritime University intelligent engine room,thermoelectric generation device of main engine cylinder water aborad ship has been developed.In particular,the internal structure of the thermoelectric generator heat exchanger has been researched and the actual layout scheme of the thermoelectric generation device has been studied.As a result of calculation,20.53kW-25.22kW electric energy would be produced if the heat of cylinder water can be recycled adequately.
