Self-centering SMA damper is a new type of passive control system.Self-centering SMA damper will have extensive application prospects for its unique self-centering characteristic.From the view of engineering application,the Benchmark structure model with self-centering SMA dampers under varying seismic waves is studied.This process includes a genetic algorithm.The main works accomplished include:1.According to the basic theory of shape memory alloy and the characteristics of self-centering shape memory alloy damper,the Brinson constitutive model is chosen as the starting point of this paper.The stress-strain relation of the shape memory alloy simulated and the constitutive relation given in the literature are compared,which shows the rationality and validity of the Brinson constitutive model in this paper.2.According to the basic structure of each component of self-centering shape memory alloy damper and its working principle,the stress-strain relationship is simulated in MATLAB.The influence of the parameters of the self-centering shape memory alloy damper on the stress-strain relationship is analyzed,The reasonable parameters of the self resetting shape memory alloy damper are determined.3.A simulation model of SMA damper is established and successfully applied to position optimization of damper and vibration analysis of Benchmark structure.4.Some self-centering shape memory alloy dampers were applied in the benchmark structure.Then executed nonlinear time history analysis under frequent earthquakes and rare earthquakes to compare the earthquake responses of structure under controlled and uncontrolled,and take advantage of evaluation criteria to evaluate the control strategy comprehensively.5.Under frequent earthquakes,the interstory drift,floor acceleration and base shear of structure have been effectively controlled;under rare earthquakes,the interstory drift criterion,ductility criterion,dissipated energy criterion and plastic hinge criterion were almost all less than 1,indicating that the control strategy played a better damping effect.
