A Study On Pavement Performance Of Cold Mix Ultrathin Asphalt Mixture

Cold mix ultra-thin asphalt mixture,mixed at room temperature,is construction pavement material,with important characteristic of low carbon and energy-saving,and a huge advantage of resources saving and lowing the cost,then it can be used to improve the skid resistance of asphalt concrete surface,repair the rut problem,crack,and other distress.It has been used widely as a preventive maintenance measures,but also can be used as a new road surface functional layer.It is an important option for future asphalt pavement and maintenance.In this thesis,the pavement performance of cold mix ultra-thin asphalt mixture are tested for evaluating the performance of asphalt mixture with different emulsified asphalt and graded.Firstly,emulsified asphalt are prepared,with selection of three kind emulsifier of runqiang-300,runqiang-303 and virtue-1463,by adjusting pH of soap to determine the emulsifier dosage for meeting the requirements of demulsification time.Then according to the different gradation of aggregate,a small amount of aggregate mixing test are used to determine the best external water content and ensure the forming of the mixture.Through the tests of emulsified asphalt performance of three kinds emulsified asphalt are compared and evaluated.Two kinds emulsifier using the runqing-300 and virtue-1463 emulsified asphalt are selected for the following experiments.Dynamic stability test of cold mix asphalt mixture using rut tester is used to evaluate the high temperature performance;Small beam low-temperature bending test using UTM is used to evaluate the low temperature performance;Freeze-thaw splitting test is used for water stability test of Marshall test-piece;Friction coefficient test and seepage test are used for determine the surface functional performance of cold mixture.The experimental results show that the emulsion of SMA-10 can meet various indicators of cold mix ultra-thin asphalt mixture;The low temperature performance and the water stability of emulsified asphalt mixture using virtue-1463 are insufficient,and the performance of runqing-300 emulsified asphalt mixture excel virtue emulsified asphalt mixture.
