The irregular structure can be simply summarized into two categories,namely,the irregular structure of the plane and the vertical irregular structure.They are the extremely unfavorable factors that cause structural damage or even collapse.No matter the plane is irregular or vertical irregular.A higher requirement for seismic performance of irregular structures is put forward,for China is a country which with many earthquake disasters.The energy dissipation technique which use of Buckling-restrained is one of the effective methods to improve the seismic safety of the structure.In this paper,The seismic behavior of BRB on the vertical irregular Steel structure and the optimization of the layout of BRB will be studied.In this paper,the irregular structure and energy dissipation technology are summarized,and the classification and research status of the irregular structure are described.Then,combined with the specific engineering case,a preliminary analysis of the original structure is made by using the finite element software ETABS.It is concluded that the lateral stiffness weak layer of the structure,three different BRB layout schemes are designed.Next,the corresponding finite element calculation models are established for the original structure and three different BRB layout schemes,and mode analysis,response spectrum analysis and time history analysis are carried out for various schemes.Finally,by comparing the simulation results of the different schemes(the structure period ratio,the story displacement,the story drift,the time history curves,the BRB hysteresis curve and the energy dissipation analysis of the structure,etc.).It is concluded that: Three kinds of BRB layout schemes all can increase the lateral stiffness of the vertical irregular structure,and improve the seismic effect of weak layer which caused by the indentation location,improve the structure stress situation,and enhance the destructive effect of the structure against earthquake.Also,we can conclude that the second scheme and the third scheme are significantly better than the first scheme,and the third scheme slightly superior to the second scheme.And also,considering the economic factors,the optimization scheme of BRB layout is the second scheme.This research can provide some guidance for the application of Buckling restrained Brace in the vertical irregular steel structure.
